Continual improvement for social responsibility by Six Sigma.

  1. Access a underperforming function (high COGS cost or so)
  2. Plan a change to that function (people, process, technology) and identify a expected value outcome
  3. Optimize it with  a program of change (PMO, IT project)
  4. Measure the result and re-vector / repeat until  marginal rate of return no longer reached

The MIT CISR model is a formal representation of this basic process. Remember that the process is often messier than this, but a high performance IT organization will still follow the steps and achieve higher value per investment unit.
